These are some words that describe Heather Briggs, the woman behind Buddha Branding. Heather started Buddha Branding in 2006, after seeing a need for more socially conscious design agencies in the Vancouver area. Coming from an eclectic background in fashion, marketing and graphic design, Heather combined her experience and passions to form a small boutique studio specializing in brand strategy, graphic design and fashion marketing for the socially (and style) conscious brands emerging in this city and beyond.

Heather’s journey began after graduating from Ryerson’s Fashion Communications program in 2002. While in her final months of school, she began working at the new Toronto lululemon athletica store, which was quickly becoming the next big trend to hit the city. While at lululemon she got experience working on the sales floor as the Visual Merchandising Manager and began creating signage and T-shirt graphics on the side. Before she knew it she was heading west to Vancouver where she worked as the in-house graphic designer.

Upon leaving lululemon in 2006, she went on to work as a graphic designer at Vancouver agencies Twinfish Creative and 4am Group. During this period she continued freelancing, which lead to the start-up of Buddha Branding later that year. Once she decided to take the plunge, she did the Toward Excellence self-employment program, which helped her create her vision and a solid business plan to support it.

Heather has a passion for great design, strategic thinking, big ideas and sustainability… she also loves art, fashion and life’s simple pleasures. She believes that the new era of business will be bold, transparent and will change the way we think and do business in the years to come. “One of my favorite parts of running Buddha Branding, is the chance to work with like-minded individuals who are also creating change and paving the way for generations to come!”
